Breaking Free: Clearing Blockages and Belief Patterns for Personal Growth

Updated: Aug 21

Life is an intresting journey, and many times a challenging one. My experience is that the less we "fight" our challenges, the easier and more rewarding the journey is. We are here to live and learn; to go with the flow - wherever it might take us. Like Elizabeth Gilbert says in her book "Big magic":

“Do whatever brings you to life, then follow your fascinations, obsessions, and compulsions. Trust them. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart.”

So let's find out what it is that would create a revolution in our hearts, go all in, and the rest will take care of itself :)

Blockages

Often times we will notice that even though we try to move on to a better way of living,

we find ourselves held back by limiting beliefs and blockages. These invisible chains can prevent us from reaching our full potential and embracing our true selves. This can be old habits that don't serve us any more, traumatic events that are nested up in our cell memory or belief patterns that have been imprinted in us from an early age.

When these blockages have been deeply buried in the subconscious, learning about them will bring a clarity to why your life is as it is. And then, if you so choose, you can change the direction you are moving in. From this point onwards, life can be an adventure full of exciting opportunities and possibilities - just the way it is meant to be.

New beginnings

Starting fresh is a wonderful feeling, and noticing how the heavy baggage is falling off your shoulders, one by one, is nothing short of magical.

The first step towards your life in perfect (and imperfect) flow and harmony, is to identify what is hindering you. This is mostly within you, not in your surroundings! I know many people have resistance to this fact, but once a "problem" is solved in the emotional and mental spheres of your being, the surroundings will adapt to this new reality - or you will suddenly find yourself in new surroundings - that matches the new frequency that you are in.

Think of the world as a reflection of how you feel inside. Once you start noticing that this is indeed what is happening, your outlook on the world will never be the same. And the great thing about this is.. We can be powerful agents for positive change!

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

Gandhi had it right all along :) And this is not just about how you treat others, this is first and foremost about how you treat yourself. All parts of yourself! The parts of yourself that have been suppressed in your life (for whatever reason; shame, guilt, fear etc.) are the parts that need to be seen and loved by you the most.

Take some time to reflect on that, because your suppressed personality traits are the war prisoners within you that desperately wants peace. And you will find that once you allow them to be seen, it is no longer so scary as these traits have only been acting out to get attention - and once seen, the peaceful union are allowed to take place.

If your blockages are due to beliefs, you will often see that once you dare to have a closer look, and realise what it is really all about, the beliefs will blow up and disappear into thin air - just like the trolls when they are exposed to sunlight :)

Introspection

To identify limiting beliefs, introspection is needed. When you start walking on this path of self reflection, these insights often times will come to you "out of the blue", so make sure you make notes when you discover potential blockages.

And if you feel stuck on your journey, Mind Shifting Coaching might be a great tool for you to move on to the next level. I am here when and if you need some support in the process.

To get started, here are some questions you can ask yourself - on your way to self discovery: 1. What are my limiting beliefs? Take some time to reflect on your thoughts and beliefs about yourself and the world around you. 2. Are these beliefs serving you or holding you back? Are they based on facts or assumptions? 3. Embrace your suppressed personality traits / shadow side. Stop hiding your true self; rather try to understand and accept it - and you will be amazed by the transformation that follows. 4. Practice self-care and self-love. Engage in activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. This could include meditation, journaling, exercise, or spending time in nature. Prioritise self-care as a way to release tension and create space for personal growth. 5. Set intentions and take action: Celebrate your progress along the way and be patient with yourself. Remember, personal growth is a lifelong journey. It requires courage, self-reflection, and a willingness to break free from the chains that hold us back. I am here to support you on this transformative journey. Together, let's clear blockages and belief patterns, and embrace our true selves.

Living life as your true self is what success looks like for me!

I will end this article with another important quote from Elizabeth Gilberts book (which I am reading at the moment):

“So this, I believe, is the central question upon which all creative living hinges: Do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you?”

Have a wonderful week everyone, and until next time..
